Giving them a voice

Yesterday's senior team meeting was all about last week's broken machine at the UK factory. All fingers seem to be pointing at Paul McGreasy, the Head of Factory Operations, for not having proper maintenance protocols in place.

That can, indeed, be a problem if it's true. However, and considering workers knew there was a problem with the machine at least a week before it happened, I'm more concerned about the lack of communication between workers and their managers.

To get their side of the story, today I had lunch with the workers in the cafeteria. They confirm that they knew there was something wrong with the machine. However, when they tried to inform the floor manager, he dismissed their concerns as he was worried about meeting the targets. I need to look into this.
